Diwal (Pholas orientalis)

Diwal (Pholas orientalis) better known in english as Angel wings is a soft, juicy, sweet, and most sought after shellfish of Roxas City. This shellfish borders in a muddy sandy substratum 2 ft in depth and grows in water 3-25 ft depth. A male diwal can grow up to 59 mm (2.2 inches) while a female 64 mm (2.5 inches) in length.

Ten years ago it disappeared from the waters of the City and Province because of illegal harvesting practices and pollution. Now, ten years later, after intensive research, seeding, and strict fishing and harvesting legislation, the Diwal is again ready for harvest as the efforts of the City have once again caused its abundance.

A one of a kind product of Capiz that will surely delight everyone who eats it.
